Wow! Time surely flies when you’re busy. Super sorry for being MIA! There’s so much happening behind the scenes that I can’t wait to disclose with you all. Let me just say…God is good!! I wanted to use this post to briefly check in with you all and to update you everythanng.
As I always say, major changes are coming to NaijaGalFitness in the next couple of months. I’m excited for the changes and of course I will create a schedule to post frequently. Anyhow, I will be graduating from film school in less than a month with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Cinema. Y’all…to say that I am excited is an understatement. I can only thank God for getting me through this THREE-YEAR PROGRAM. Also, I want to thank my close friends and family for being there when school was driving me NUTS. I will be posting an ‘Applying 2 Graduate School’ post soon.
Currently I am finishing my thesis film and it will be released to the public in a couple of months. I can’t wait to screen it in film festivals all over the world. You will have the opportunity to watch the film when it’s screening in your city. Please be sure to check it out!
I started a new gym!! It involves boxing and I’m growing stronger and stronger. I’m not gonna front but the first couple of weeks were intense. I had to practice with my trainer and I was almost knocked to the ground…several times…crazy, I know. I’ll keep you all posted.
I created a new afterschool film program specifically for Bay Area youth. God planted it in my heart to give back and produce something extraordinary for the Bay Area. This program is geared towards 10-12th graders that identify as persons of color. As you may know, Hollywood lacks diversity so this program is perfect to bring POC in front and behind the camera. This program will expand to other schools across the Bay so stay tuned.
Next, I produced and directed a promotional video for a Bay Area company which was nerve-racking, fun, and completely unexpected because they enlisted for my assistance. I hope to work with them again because it definitely strengthen my directing and producing skills to the max.
Besides the promotional video, the job search is legit a struggle! I applied to at least 20+ jobs all over the continental U.S and one international company. To be honest, I believe this is a TEST of endurance and dedication for the craft. I also believe that when a door closes it just means something bigger and better is awaiting.
(UPDATE): I have a job with a major studio!!
For those who are currently applying for a job, stay in the game! Don’t give up and settle for less. My ultimate goal after graduation was to be employed with an awesome job where I am able to utilize my skills as a producer and director. Now it’s a reality, thank you Jesus!!
Since the year has started, I’ve learned so much about who I am and what I am capable of. I learned the true value of patience and having absolute faith even if my situation looks stressful. I learned that God will work out any problem I may have because He is the Author and Finisher of my narrative. (Side note: How amazing is it to know that no matter what happens in our lives we are covered?) With that being said, I am ready for what’s to come…the good, the bad, and the unexpected. I’m here for it!
I know, this is a short post but stay tuned for more!
