What I Learned in 2016!!!

Y’all!!  This year flown by so fast! Geez! Let me hold onto my crochet braids before the year wraps up! I must say, I’ve learned so many valuable lessons this year from losing friendships, gaining a deeper understanding of Christ, putting myself first, and truly loving every moment of life…good and bad.

Now let’s get started…

Romance: of course this year has been filled with ‘potentials’ but I learned to truly value myself and spend as much time getting to know  Christ. If you’re single, you may get lonely at times but understanding that He is always near is so soothing! Plus polishing yourself to the highest degree is truly the BEST gift too. Knowing that you have happiness within without searching for it in someone else is powerful. Seek a partner that acknowledges God’s heart and puts Him first above else because that is ultimately thee BEST #relationshipgoals!!  In the meantime, i’m focused  on building my empire, traveling, eating bomb food,  and relationship with my first love, Christ.

life8Friendships: I’ve heard the saying, “Friends come and go” growing up but never really applied it to my life…until recently. WITHOUT A DOUBT, this year I was TESTED when it came to friendships. First, I learned was to vent to God first before anyone else because He will give you THE BEST solutions/advice ever. Second, I learned that some friends really do come and go and its okay to move on. It hurts at first but after a while you will realize that its apart of the process of life and where God is taking you doesn’t require a gazillion and one persons. You gotta be completely okay  with being alone and rooting for yo’ dang self. Its important to understand that God has many more valuable friendships lined up in the future and stressing to belong in a toxic friendship/group  will only hinder your growth.

School/Career: Currently wrapping up my last semester as a grad student in film school! Y’all to say that I’m excited is an UNDERSTATEMENT!! I can’t believe 3 years came and went so, so fast. Lord knows how much I needed this program to grow and develop into the woman I am today. This year, I shot a documentary about a prominent black transwoman which will be released in May. I can’t wait to share this film with the world! I’ve been working on this film for over two years and to see it developing is an indescribable feeling. Always, always, follow your dreams and don’t quit when it gets hard…because it will. The good news is, your dreams will come true if you really want it!

Secondly, I’m in the process of expanding NaijaGalFitness, so stay tune for more.

Side note: I’m thrilled that I updated the website because it totally needed a facelift, seriously!

Here’s several things I’ve learned about my career journey this year:

  • Don’t be discourage in the midst of your humble beginnings but trust that God always have you covered. Also, seek Him for your purpose!
  • Stay in your lane, focus on your goals and don’t compete with the next person. What’s for you will ALWAYS be for you.
  • Be open to new ideas and paths. Yes it’s great to have an idea of what you want to become but acknowledge that you can expand your passions to much larger things too.

Spirituality: Ah yes, the best for last! This year I learned so, so, so, so, soooo much through the test and trials I was given. Y’all God is so real and so good. I can’t even express the craziness that went down this year but I must say, thank you isn’t enough for all the gracious things He has done for me thus far. I always stress the importance of growing closer to God because He is our Creator…duh! LOL Why would’t we want to experience His wonderful divine, perfect, sweet, peaceful, humbling yet powerful presence? So much wisdom and joy is given through Him. I just LOVE and TRUST the Lord with every cell and expressing that in words just isn’t enough. *SIGH*

As 2016 comes to a close, I am truly thankful for everyone that stayed by my side through thick and thin! Especially everyone that has supported my blog since the beginning #TheRealMVPs !! I truly love y’all and I’m so excited to see what the good Lord has in store for us!! Happy New Year and many blessings to you.

P.S- Never be afraid to proclaim the goodness of Christ, He loves you! <3

With love xoxo,
